Guide to Life Coaching
What is Life Coaching
Life coaching is a relatively new and increasingly popular way of helping people manage life transitions and overcome personal challenges.
Just as you might engage a tennis coach to help improve your game of tennis you work with a life coach on areas of your life you want to change or improve.
As I see it, life coaching is about taking control of your life, making choices and taking responsibility, rather than reacting to whatever life throws at you or doing what other people think you should.
In order to make the right choices for YOU a life coach will stimulate your thinking and help you look at different perspectives, often ones you would never have thought of yourself.
To do this a life coach uses a process of inquiry and self-discovery rather than imposing advice, and provides you with focus, structure, feedback and support.
Life coaching is non-judgemental, enabling, reflective and always confidential. It is not about raking up the past and telling you what to do. A life coach will help you find your own solutions.
Life coaching offers a bridge between where you are now and where you want to be and gives you the space to explore ideas and strategies in a safe and supportive environment.
